For fast weight loss to occur, the mind absolutely has to be engaged. Have I tried this technique on myself or the athletes that I train. Honestly, I have not. But I have tried visualization for myself and my soccer players and it absolutely work so I believe that this technique could possibly be helpful. Does the power of positive thinking work in all cases? Probably not but I can assure you that the power of negative thinking absolutely does. I really appreciated the comment about how though our subconscious mind desires fast weight loss, it may not be able to accept it all at once so the goal as the subconscious target number may have to be short of the ultimate goal. The body can only achieve what the mind can conceive and this recommendation falls right into that category .
